PATTERN · FABRIC · PROCESS

Every Element Confirmed Before Cutting Begins

Pattern making, fabric selection and production process are aligned with product specifications and approved before the first sample is cut. This reduces revision rounds and aligns the sample with production expectations from the start.

Pattern Development

01

Measurement & Grading Review

Confirm base size, grading increments and target market sizing standard (US, EU, UK or custom).

02

Block & Fit Pattern Development

Develop the working pattern based on the design reference, construction notes and target silhouette.

03

Pattern Confirmation

Pattern is reviewed against the approved specifications before cutting the first sample.

Fabric Selection & Confirmation

Fabric is selected or developed to match composition, weight, construction and finish requirements. The fabric is confirmed before sampling begins to ensure the sample reflects the intended product quality.

Composition
100% Cotton, Cotton/Polyester blends, French Terry, Fleece, Waffle Knit and custom options.
Weight (GSM)
Lightweight (160-220 gsm) through heavyweight (340-420 gsm+) depending on product type and market requirements.
Fabric Structure
Single jersey, French terry, brushed fleece, loop-back, interlock, ribbed and knitted structures reviewed per end use.
Color Standard
Pantone TCX/TPX reference, physical swatch or approved production sample used as the color benchmark.
Print Compatibility
Fabric surface and finish are evaluated against the intended decoration method before the sample is cut.

Fabric swatches or lab-dip samples are provided for colour-critical projects before sample cutting begins. The approved fabric forms part of the production specification.

STAGE 01

First Sample (SMS)

The first sample is produced based on confirmed pattern, fabric and decoration specifications. It establishes the baseline for fit, construction quality, colour accuracy and process execution.

  • Pattern and grading applied
  • Approved fabric and trims used
  • Decoration executed as specified
  • Measured against the size chart
  • Detailed photo set provided for remote review
STAGE 02

Revision Rounds

Client feedback is collected in a structured format covering fit, measurements, construction, colour and decoration. Changes are documented and the revised sample is produced against the updated specification.

  • Structured feedback form provided
  • All changes logged against specification
  • Revision scope confirmed before re-cutting
  • Repeat rounds handled systematically
  • Physical or digital review supported
STAGE 03

Pre-Production Confirmation (PPS)

The pre-production sample confirms all approved details at bulk material conditions. Once signed off, it becomes the production standard reference used throughout the bulk manufacturing process.

  • Bulk fabric and trims confirmed
  • Final measurement check completed
  • Labels and packaging reviewed
  • Signed-off sample archived as reference
  • Production schedule confirmed on approval

Physical samples can be shipped for in-hand review at any stage of the process. Sample shipment costs are confirmed at the time of the project brief.

What We Check on Every Sample Before It Ships

Each sample is reviewed against the confirmed specification across measurements, construction, decoration and branding before dispatch. Issues found during review are documented and addressed before the sample leaves our facility.

CHECK ITEM STANDARD
Measurements Each key measurement verified against the approved size chart. Tolerance range is documented and deviations flagged for confirmation.
Fabric & Colour Fabric weight, hand-feel and colour checked against the approved swatch or Pantone standard. Shade consistency reviewed under standard light.
Stitching & Seams Stitch density, seam alignment, hem finish, join integrity and thread ends reviewed at all structural and decorative seams.
Decoration Print placement, registration accuracy, ink coverage, embroidery density and appliqué position checked against the artwork specification.
Trims & Hardware Zipper pull, drawcord, eyelet, button and snap functionality confirmed. Trim colour and finish checked against approved references.
Labels & Branding Woven label, care label, size label content and placement confirmed. Hang tag and packaging reviewed if applicable to the sample round.
Overall Appearance Garment is pressed, inspected for marks or contamination, and photographed in a standardised format before shipment or photo-review.

Stage Typical Lead Time Cost Basis Notes
First Sample (SMS) 7-14 business days Sample fee per style Deducted from bulk order in most cases. Confirmed per project.
Revision Sample 3-7 business days Varies by revision scope Minor fit changes vs. significant construction revisions are costed separately.
Pre-Production Sample (PPS) 5-10 business days Included or per agreement Produced at bulk fabric conditions. Sign-off triggers production scheduling.
Lab Dip / Fabric Swatch 5-10 business days Per colour per fabric Required for colour-critical projects. Approval required before SMS.
Strike-Off (Print) 3-5 business days Per artwork Print strike-off for screen or DTF confirmation before sample cutting.

Sample Fee Policy

Sample fees cover pattern making, material sourcing, construction, decoration and quality review. Fees are typically deducted from the bulk order invoice upon confirmed production placement.

Factors That Affect Lead Time

Fabric sourcing complexity, number of decoration techniques, revision scope, public holidays and shipping time for physical samples all affect the total development calendar.

From Sample to Bulk Production

Once the PPS is approved and the production order is placed, the confirmed sample becomes the production reference. Bulk lead time is assessed based on quantity, fabrication and current scheduling.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Sampling Service FAQ

Answers to the most common questions about our sampling process, timelines, costs and requirements.

Do I need a completed Tech Pack to request a sample?
No. A complete Tech Pack is the most efficient starting point, but projects may also begin with a reference garment, product photos, design sketches, or an initial concept with fabric and fit direction. Our team will review what you have, identify any gaps, and work with you to develop a workable product specification before sampling begins.
How many revision rounds are typically needed?
Most projects are completed within one to two revision rounds when the project brief and feedback are clear and well-documented. Complex projects with multiple decoration techniques, custom fabric development or significant fit changes may require additional rounds. We document every change against the specification to keep each revision focused and efficient.
Can I receive a physical sample for in-hand review?
Yes. Physical samples can be shipped at any stage of the development process. Shipping costs are confirmed at project start. If physical review is not required, we provide a detailed photo set covering measurements, construction details, decoration close-ups and overall appearance for remote review.
Are sample fees refunded when I place a bulk order?
In most cases, sample fees are deducted from the bulk order invoice once production is confirmed. The specific arrangement is confirmed at the start of the project. Sample fees cover pattern making, material sourcing, construction, decoration and quality inspection for each sample round.
What is the minimum quantity for bulk production after sampling?
Minimum order quantities for bulk production depend on the garment type, fabric, construction and decoration requirements. We support small trial runs through to larger production volumes. MOQ is confirmed after the project brief and specification are reviewed, not as a fixed blanket figure.
Can you develop the fabric as part of the sampling service?
Yes. If an existing stock fabric does not meet the project requirements, we can source custom fabric or develop a fabric to the required composition, weight, construction and finish. Lab-dip samples are provided for colour confirmation before the garment sample is cut. Custom fabric development affects the overall timeline and is factored into the project schedule.
How is the approved sample used during bulk production?
The signed-off pre-production sample (PPS) becomes the production reference standard. All bulk garments are measured, inspected and compared against this reference throughout production. The confirmed fabric, trims, decoration specifications and measurement chart are also archived as the production specification document.
Can I request samples for multiple colourways or styles simultaneously?
Yes. Multiple colourways or style variations can be developed within the same project. Each colourway or variant is treated as a separate sample with its own colour confirmation and review process. Developing multiple options in parallel can reduce the overall development calendar compared to sequential sampling.
