YECHENG APPAREL · TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT

Pattern, Sizing and Fit Preparation for Custom Clothing

Once your garment direction is selected, YECHENG can make or adjust patterns, organize measurement points and project-specific size grading, and define fit questions within the manufacturing project. Those decisions are then checked in a physical sample.

THE RIGHT TECHNICAL STAGE

Is Your Garment Direction Ready for Technical Preparation?

This stage fits a buyer who has chosen the garment type, silhouette and product direction but still needs a pattern base, measurement structure, size logic or written fit criteria before sampling.

Direction selected
Garment type and general silhouette have been chosen.
Pattern questions
A base pattern may need to be made or adjusted.
Measurements
Relevant points of measure and fit criteria need a clear structure.
Size range
Base size and project-specific grading logic need agreement.
Sample next
Physical validation follows technical preparation.

Pattern, grading and measurement work are provided within an OEM, ODM or sampling-led garment manufacturing project. They are not offered as separate pattern-only, grading-only or POM-only orders.

Direction still open? Continue with ODM. Specification already defined? See OEM. Ready for a physical garment? Use Sampling. Unsure which route fits? See Services.

TECHNICAL INPUTS

Bring the Inputs Needed to Build a Reviewable Technical Base

Share the direction you have selected and the documents already available. YECHENG reviews what is defined and which pattern, measurement, size and fit questions still need preparation before sampling.

A reference alone is not a finished technical specification. Product concept decisions remain with ODM development; this stage organizes the technical base after direction is selected.

Selected garment direction
Reference or sketch
Existing specification
Target size range
Fit and construction notes
Material and artwork context
Tech pack review and technical specification audit
Selected garment direction
Identify the garment type, silhouette and intended use.
Existing specification
Share a tech pack, pattern or measurement chart if available.
Fit and construction notes
Explain proportions, fit comments and construction implications.
PATTERN PREPARATION

Prepare or Adjust the Pattern Within the Garment Project

YECHENG can make or modify garment patterns as part of an OEM, ODM or sampling-led manufacturing project. The pattern base is reviewed against the selected silhouette, construction and garment-specific fit requirements.

An existing pattern or reference garment can be considered where relevant. This work is part of the garment project; it is not a separate pattern-only purchase or a promise to transfer pattern files.

Base pattern
Make a pattern for the selected garment direction or review an existing pattern or reference.
Project adjustment
Adjust pattern details when the chosen silhouette, construction or fit criteria require it.
Open questions
Record the technical points that the physical sample must test before the specification is approved.
POM / MEASUREMENTS

Organize the Measurements That Matter for This Garment

YECHENG can create or adjust points of measure (POM) and a measurement specification within the garment project. The relevant points and tolerances are confirmed for the actual product and project.

Choose the relevant points
Body length, chest, shoulder, sleeve, waist, rise or inseam may matter according to the garment.
Create or adjust the chart
YECHENG can organize or modify a garment-specific POM and measurement specification within the project.
Define what fit means
Identify which measurements and proportions express the intended silhouette.
Flag sample questions
Mark points that need confirmation on a physical garment before approval.
PROJECT-SPECIFIC SIZE GRADING

Prepare the Size Range From an Agreed Base Size

Once the base size and requested range are agreed, YECHENG can apply project-specific grading rules within the garment project. Letter-size labels do not automatically create a reliable fit across every market or garment.

Agree on a base
Choose the base size and review the measurement/fit reference.
Set the requested range
Confirm the sizes relevant to the brand and garment.
Apply project rules
YECHENG can grade from the base size using project-specific grade logic; increments are not universal.
FIT SPECIFICATION

Define What the Sample Needs to Test

Fit criteria should be written before sampling where possible. Relevant proportions vary by garment and material; they are questions for physical validation, not a promise of an exact result.

Carry Sample Feedback Back to the Technical Base

After a sample review, fit issues, measurement deviations or construction-related fit questions may lead to pattern or measurement changes in the project. The detailed revision and approval workflow belongs to Sampling.

Write the fit criteria
Record ease, length, width, shoulder or sleeve shape, hood or collar, waist or rise, and leg shape where relevant.
Test in a physical sample
Use the sample to check how the pattern, measurements, fabric and construction behave together.
Update the technical base
Fit or measurement feedback may call for a pattern or specification adjustment within the same project.
PHYSICAL VALIDATION AND HANDOFF

Validate the Technical Base in a Physical Sample

Technical preparation is not physical fit approval. Sampling checks pattern, measurements, grading logic and fit criteria on the garment before a defined specification moves into production planning.

Physical sample
A pattern, POM chart, size logic and written fit questions need a physical garment for validation. The Sampling owner covers review and approval. Review Sampling.
Defined specification
When technical questions and the sample reference are approved, continue with specification-led OEM manufacturing. Review OEM.
Product direction still open
If silhouette, fabric direction, construction concept or product direction remains materially open, return to ODM product development. Review ODM.

GARMENT-SPECIFIC QUESTIONS

Technical Questions Change With the Garment

Measurement points, grading and fit criteria vary by product type. Use the three product owners for category-specific context.

PRODUCT CONTEXT
Custom Hoodies
Hood, shoulder, sleeve and body proportions can shape the POM and fit questions. Explore Custom Hoodies.

Custom T-Shirts
Neck, shoulder, chest, length and sleeve points vary with the intended silhouette. Explore Custom T-Shirts.
PRODUCT CONTEXT
Custom Tracksuits
Top and bottom measurements, rise and leg shape must be considered together. Explore Custom Tracksuits.

TECHNICAL PREPARATION FAQ

Questions Before Pattern and Fit Preparation

Scope, measurements, grading and the handoff to physical sampling.

What information is needed before pattern or fit preparation?
A selected garment type and direction are the starting point. Share available references, patterns, tech packs, measurements, size range, construction notes and fit comments. YECHENG reviews what remains open within the project.
Can YECHENG make or modify garment patterns?
Yes. YECHENG can make or adjust patterns as part of an OEM, ODM or sampling-led garment manufacturing project, using the agreed garment direction and project inputs.
What is a POM or measurement specification?
A point of measure (POM) identifies where a garment dimension is taken. Relevant points depend on the garment; YECHENG can prepare or adjust them within the project before physical validation.
Can YECHENG prepare size grading?
Yes. After a base size and project size range are agreed, YECHENG can grade for the requested sizes using garment-specific rules. Increments are confirmed for the actual product.
How are fit issues handled after a sample review?
The team records fit or measurement feedback and can adjust the pattern or specification within the project. Detailed sample review and approval belong to Sampling.
What is the difference between technical preparation and sampling?
Technical preparation organizes the pattern, measurement points, grading and fit questions. Sampling tests those decisions in a physical garment.
When should the project move to OEM manufacturing?
When the specification and sample reference are sufficiently defined and approved for production planning, continue with the OEM route.
Can I order only pattern making or grading from YECHENG?
No. Pattern, grading and measurement work are provided as part of an OEM, ODM or sampling-led garment manufacturing project. YECHENG does not position this as a standalone pattern-making or grading service.
